Medilux Light Therapy Kincumber

Multi-wavelength photobiomodulation delivered in 20-minute sessions. Available standalone or combined with IV or mHBOT. Central Coast NSW.

What is Photobiomodulation?

Photobiomodulation uses specific wavelengths of light to interact with cells in the body. Unlike UV light which damages skin, the wavelengths used in light therapy are in the red, near-infrared, and visible light spectrum. They penetrate tissue to varying depths depending on wavelength.

The Medilux device delivers five distinct wavelengths — red 633nm, near-infrared 830nm, blue 420nm, green 520nm, and yellow 590nm — and can be targeted to a specific area of the body. Sessions run for 20 minutes and are non-invasive.

One of the key advantages of Medilux light therapy at Absolute IV is that it can be delivered simultaneously during your IV infusion session. Both therapies run at the same time — no additional appointment time required

Five Wavelengths

Photobiomodulation uses specific wavelengths of light to interact with cells in the body. Unlike UV light which damages skin, the wavelengths used in light therapy are in the red, near-infrared, and visible light spectrum. They penetrate tissue to varying depths depending on wavelength. The Medilux device delivers five distinct wavelengths — red 633nm, near-infrared 830nm, blue 420nm, green 520nm, and yellow 590nm. Sessions run for 20 minutes and are non-invasive.

Red – 633nm

Red light penetrates approximately 2–3mm into skin and superficial tissue. It is absorbed by mitochondria where it interacts with cytochrome c oxidase, a key enzyme in cellular energy production. One of the most studied wavelengths in photobiomodulation research.

Near-Infared – 830nm

Near-infrared light is invisible to the naked eye and penetrates more deeply than red light — reaching muscle, joint, and deeper tissue. Widely studied in photobiomodulation research for deeper tissue applications.

Blue – 420nm

Blue light works primarily at the surface of the skin. Well known for its interaction with Propionibacterium acnes — the bacteria associated with acne. Also plays a role in circadian rhythm regulation.

Green – 520nm

Green light has an intermediate penetration depth. Research into green light in photobiomodulation is less extensive than red or near-infrared but studies have examined its interaction with melanin and skin applications.

Yellow – 590nm

Yellow light is absorbed by haemoglobin and melanin in the skin. Has been studied in the context of skin tone, redness, and vascular applications.

Photobiomodulation is an active and growing area of research. Individual responses vary and outcomes are not guaranteed. Medilux light therapy at Absolute IV is offered as a wellness service and is not a medical treatment for any specific condition.

Your Medilux Session

  • Arrive with clean skin — remove makeup and skincare from the treatment area where possible
  • Eye protection is provided for the duration of the session
  • Your nurse will position the Medilux device over the target treatment area
  • Sessions are 20 minutes
  • Medilux can be delivered simultaneously during your IV infusion — ask about combining at the time of booking
  • There is no downtime following a Medilux session

Who should not use Medilux: photosensitising medications (discuss with your nurse), active skin conditions or open wounds in the treatment area, history of light-sensitive conditions, pregnancy (consult your obstetrician). This is not a complete list — please disclose your full health history and medication list at the time of booking.
